That on signing the bond of allegiance the carta of naturalization comes into operation, and thenceforth is of full effect: the party becomes entitled to all the privileges, and is liable to all the obligations of natural born subjects of that kingdom; and some of the lawyers expressed an opinion that, in the absence of a will, valid by the law of Portugal, the effects of a person so naturalized must be disposed of as if he died intestate (a).
